What is the Passphrase Generator?
A passphrase made of several random words is easier to remember and type than “Xk#9!q2”, yet very hard to crack. This tool picks words from a 1,000+ word list using your browser’s cryptographic random generator – nothing is sent anywhere. Choose 4–8 words, a separator, and optionally capitalise words or add a number and symbol for sites that require them.
How to use the Passphrase Generator
- Choose number of words and separator.
- Add capitals, number or symbol if a site requires them.
- Copy the passphrase and store it in a password manager.
How strong?
Each random word from a 1,300-word list adds about 10 bits of entropy. 5 words ≈ 52 bits, 6 words ≈ 62 bits – strong for most accounts, especially with 2-factor authentication.
This Passphrase Generator is 100% free, needs no signup and runs privately in your browser – on phone, tablet or computer.
