Guided breathing exercises to relax and focus
Slow, controlled breathing is one of the quickest ways to feel calmer, focus before an exam or presentation, and wind down for sleep. Follow the growing and shrinking circle: breathe in as it grows, hold, and breathe out as it shrinks. Choose from well-known patterns and set a session length.
How to use the Breathing Exercise tool

- Set the session length.
- Press Start and follow the circle and the words.
Patterns
- Box breathing 4-4-4-4 – focus and calm (used by athletes and first responders).
- 4-7-8 – relaxing, helps many people fall asleep.
- Coherent 5.5-5.5 – about 5–6 breaths a minute for balance.
Note
If you feel light-headed, return to normal breathing. This is a relaxation aid, not a medical treatment.
This Breathing Exercise tool is 100% free, needs no signup and runs privately in your browser – on phone, tablet or computer.
