What is the BMR Calculator?
Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the energy your body needs just to keep you alive – breathing, heartbeat, brain and temperature – if you rested all day. It is usually 60–70% of the calories you burn. The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation (the most accurate for most people) and shows Harris-Benedict for comparison, plus your daily needs by activity level.
How to use the BMR Calculator
- Enter sex, age, weight and height.
- Read your BMR.
- Use the activity table to see total daily calories.
Mifflin-St Jeor
- Men: 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age + 5
- Women: 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age − 161
Note
These are estimates. Medical conditions, muscle mass and medicines can change your real metabolism.
This BMR Calculator is 100% free, needs no signup and runs privately in your browser – on phone, tablet or computer.
