Work and Power Calculator (W = Fd, P = W/t)

Calculate work done (W = F × d × cosθ) and power (P = W ÷ t) – in joules, watts, kilowatts and horsepower – for physics homework and real-life problems.

What is the Work and Power Calculator?

Work is done when a force moves something: W = F × d × cos θ (θ is the angle between force and motion). Power is how fast work is done: P = W ÷ t. Enter force, distance, angle and time to get work in joules and power in watts, kilowatts and horsepower.

How to use the Work and Power Calculator

  1. Enter the force (N) and distance moved (m).
  2. Enter the angle between force and movement (0° if same direction).
  3. Enter the time taken to get power.

Example

Lifting a 50 kg bag (490 N) up 3 m of stairs in 4 s: W = 1470 J, P = 367.5 W ≈ 0.49 hp.

This Work and Power Calculator is 100% free, needs no signup and runs privately in your browser – on phone, tablet or computer.
