What is the Color Blindness Simulator?
About 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women have some form of colour vision deficiency. This simulator shows how your image, chart, website screenshot or poster looks to people with the most common types, so you can check that important information does not rely on colour alone.
How to use the Color Blindness Simulator
- Choose an image or screenshot.
- Pick a type of colour blindness (or view all at once).
- Compare with the original and adjust your design if something disappears.
Types of colour blindness
- Protanopia – no red cones (red looks dark / brownish).
- Deuteranopia – no green cones (most common; red and green look similar).
- Tritanopia – no blue cones (blue/green and yellow/pink confusion).
- Achromatopsia – no colour vision (sees in greyscale).
Design tips
Use labels, patterns or icons in addition to colour, and check contrast with our Color Contrast Checker.
